The Annual Girls Leadership Conference® is the brainchild of S.T.R.A.W. Inc. ™ Center for Young Women ©.

The Annual Girls Leadership Conference® emerged in March 2005 with 53 girls participating representing 10 publuc, 12 private junior and senior high schools and 1 Church.

Seventeen years later our bold conference is still unlike any leadership training that teen girls and young women will have ever experienced! Participants will learn the importance of discipline, self-confidence, self-esteem and the overall rewards of achievement.

It is the premier gender specific leadership educational, networking and training event for adolescent and teen girls throughout New Providence and the Family Islands.

S.T.R.A.W. Inc. ™ has garnered a reputation for ‘tackling the tough stuff’; being somewhat controversial yet unapologetically determined and relevant as we identify, explore and present solutions for issues facing our Bahamian young women. The Annual Girls Leadership Conference ® is one of our signature events and every year the conference has become more relevant, interactive, entertaining and dynamic; no two conference experiences have been the same.

It is at the Annual Girls Leadership Conference ® where girls get to use their voices, feel important and create action plans for immeasurable personal success. Sessions include breakouts, general group discussions and entertainment; basically everything a girl’s conference needs.
